BIO:
Steve Rightnour is a guitarist/producer from Lone Star TX.
Primarily influenced by 70’s Rock, R&B and Texas blues, his playing style relies heavily on chunky rhythms, singing single note work and exploring under utilized grooves of the TXARLA region.
Steve R: “When I relocated to East TX I expected to hear a lot more New Orleans funk and Zydeco in the local flavor. Rather than be disappointed, I just got to work cooking up a ‘genre of one’ “
After many years as a sideman Steve has now channeled his production, writing and arranging energy into recording his own tracks beginning with the release of his first single “gravity” in January 2025. With the goal set to release a new track every month “antenna” was released February 2025. Both tracks are funky, groove heavy workouts, punctuated by drummers Ed Miles (Greyhounds/Doyle Bramhall II, Chris Duarte) and Jordan Perlson (Snarky Puppy, Adrian Belew, Colin Hay) with key master Toby Lee Marshall (Lonnie Brooks, Koch Marshall Trio, Octocopter) gluing all the sections together with driven B3 counterpunch.
As the first quarter of 2025 begins to close, Steve is currently mixing “the blade” scheduled for release in early March.
